Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was formed in 2009 through the merger of the University of Karlsruhe, one of Germany’s oldest technical universities, and the Karlsruhe Research Centre, a major national research institution. This combination of a large teaching university with an established research centre makes KIT one of Germany’s most significant institutions for engineering and applied sciences, and it holds University of Excellence status under the German Universities Excellence Initiative.

Campus and location

KIT’s facilities are located in and around Karlsruhe in south-west Germany. As Karlsruhe is in Baden-Württemberg, non-EU students should note that this state charges international students a tuition fee of approximately €1,500 per semester, in addition to the standard semester contribution paid by all students.
